Elizabeth Katschke (nee Stratford)

It is with great sadness, but with deep gratefulness for a life well lived, the family of Elizabeth Katschke (nee Stratford), announce she peacefully went to Jesus on November 2, 2013, at the age of 89 in Tsawwassen, BC. Elizabeth grew up in London, England before she came to Saskatchewan as a war bride not long after her marriage to Art Katschke. They settled on a farm in the Colfax area where her life revolved around her family, her home and the farm. She cared for her six children with love and she was very proud of them. She was a wonderful cook and taught her four girls how to be good wives, mothers and grandmothers. Elizabeth was an avid knitter and made blankets, baby booties, hats and sweaters for her children and grandchildren. After they sold the farm in Colfax, the family moved to the city of Weyburn. In her later years, Elizabeth lived with Brenda in Saskatoon. After about five years, Brenda and Rob moved to Ladner, BC, taking Elizabeth with them. Rosemarie and Earl took care of her in Ladner when Brenda and Rob moved back to Saskatoon. With diminished health Elizabeth stayed in BC moving into KinVillage Care Home in Tsawwassen, where she had lived since 2007. Elizabeth is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband, Art, her six children, Barbara (Al) Klippenstein, Barry (Jennifer) Katschke, Rosemarie (Earl) Johnson, Brenda (Robert) Loveday, Gwen (Paul) Edmondson, and Dave (Bev) Katschke; her grandchildren Cyndi (Ken) Toews, Jennifer Gawel, Krista (Dave) Kuarsingh, Aaron Katschke, Jason Katschke, Lindsay Katschke, Amanda Katschke, Richelle (Cory) Gardner, Shawn Carlisle, Rob Cole, Ryan Livingstone, Andrew Livingstone, Jessica Livingstone, Matthew Livingstone, Nigel Edmondson, Elizabeth Edmondson, and Justin Katschke. She also had ten great grandchildren with one more on the way. There will be a celebration of Elizabeth Katschke's life held in the summer 2014 in Weyburn, SK.
