In addition to being an involved farm wife with five children, Elda was active in her community, serving as a board member for both the United Church and Credit Union, and worked with the Agricultural Society for 40 years. She played in the Ogema Community Band for 12 years alongside George, several of her children and her parents. Elda was a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher. She was passionate about flowers, her yard and gardening. She was an avid seamstress throughout her life, knitted for charity in her later years, and enjoyed travelling throughout the world. In 2002, the Verwood Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star bestowed Elda with an Honorary Life Membership. She held the office of Worthy Matron four times and also served as Secretary for many years. In 1979, Elda joined Anquet Temple, Daughters of the Nile. There too, in 2008, she was given an Honorary Life Membership and was designated Recorder Emeritus after stepping down from her job as the Temple Recorder. We extend special thanks to the staff of Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, especially Chaplain Jennifer, who together provided such gentle care for Elda in her final days. Our thanks, as well, to Katie at Prairie Oxygen. The funeral service will be held at the Ogema United Church on Saturday, September 6 at 1:30 P.M. Those who wish to make donations are invited to make a contribution to the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina SK S4R 8P6, or to a charity of your choice.
