Edward Michael Deutsch, late of Weyburn, SK passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2012, at the age of 91 years. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Magdalena Deutsch; brother, Tony; sister, Lorraine; sister-in-law, Anne; brother-in-law, Jim. Edward is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; daughters: Judy (Morris), Donna (Edzard); grandchildren: Darcy (Jolene) and their daughter, Adisson, Pam (Graham), Chris (Niki), Kirk (Jari) and their children: Kadence, Carson, Brityn; his siblings and their families: Mary, Matt (Irene), Vivian (Fred), Dalene (Irvin), Leonard, Ron (Georgina) as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Ed was born the third of nine children in Rouleau, and spent his early childhood on the farm. Some of his first memories were of his dad farming with horses, Model T Ford cars, threshing in the fall and playing along the Avonlea creek which ran the full length of their farm. At the age of 13 the family moved north to the Okla/Lintlaw area. Ed signed up for the Air Force in 1942. He trained as a navigator, placing top of the class, receiving his first commission as Pilot Officer Air Navigation. When the war was over Ed came back to Regina and took a job on a farm at Osage. Ed and Evelyn were married in 1949, living on a farm near Osage until 1963, when they bought and moved to their farm south of Fillmore. Ed and Evelyn were equal partners and shared in the challenges and successes over many years. Ed was an excellent farmer, an innovator and successful steward of the land for almost 60 years, until his health forced him to retire. Ed's family was his priority and his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him many happy moments and memories. Ed and Evelyn retired and moved to a house in Weyburn in 2009. The family would like to thank all of the health care professionals and staff who assisted with his care over the past couple of years. A service of remembrance for Edward was held on Friday, September 7, at 2:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. Ann White, officiating. Interment followed at Fillmore Cemetery. All in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers.
