Dr. Craig N. Markle passed away at the age of 62 on April 20, 2012 at North Vancouver, BC after a 17 month battle with a GBM brain tumour. Born in Weyburn, Craig excelled academically, being awarded top graduate in the province of Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Calgary, studying for a Bachelor of Music in piano performance where, in his 4th year, he added pre-med courses. Graduating with distinction, he was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine in the subsequent year. After obtaining his M.D. he moved to North Vancouver, opening his medical practice in 1980. For the next 30 years he cared for his patients with compassion and skill. Craig loved hiking, skiing, travel, photography, astronomy, and above all, music. His gentle, polite, kind unselfish spirit was beloved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and former patients. Predeceased by his parents Edna and Charles Markle, Craig is survived by his loving wife and daughter, Linda Falls and Danielle, as well as many cousins. Our thanks to Dr. Klimo, Dr. Smiljanic, Dr. Haaf, the oncology clinic team, his homecare and hospice team for their compassionate care. To the many family and friends who offered us so much assistance and love during this journey, we offer our heartfelt thanks. A memorial service to celebrate Craig's life will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd., North Vancouver, BC. Flowers gratefully declined, a donation for those so wishing may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada for GBM research or to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Klimo Fund or to a charity of your choice.
