Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Allegra Paxman; her son-in-law, Wayne Krushlucki; sister, Ruth McKague and a brother in infancy. Dorothy was born south of Maxim on the family farm and spent her younger years helping her father with farm work. She drove tractors, helped with the gardening and cared for the livestock. She attended elementary school at Little Butte and Big Timber and eventually graduated from high school at Tribune. One of her favourite pass times in her youth was to listen to hockey games on the radio. On June 25, 1955 Dorothy married Gordon Ward in the United Church at Tribune. They lived in the Weyburn Trailer Court for a short time and in 1960 moved to the farm at Colgate, SW 28-5-15 W2. Dorothy enjoyed a variety of careers, working at Saskatchewan Hospital and the Bank of Commerce in Weyburn. Later Dorothy and Gordon farmed together in the Colgate area and she drove tractors, baled, worked with the cattle and raised turkeys. Later she graded eggs for her sister, Ruth McKague, at Tribune. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and needlework in her spare time. She loved music and reading and watching any league play football was another favourite pass time. Above all her interest in anything to do with agriculture was a great passion.
