It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected, tragic death of Darla Mae Yurkowski (nee Carlson) of Halbrite. Darla was taken from us tragically on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the age of 44. Darla was predeceased by her first husband, Terry Troendle, her brother-in-law Curt Fenwick, her grandparents, Garfield and Wilma Baillie, and Blanche Carlson, her uncles Robert Pagan and Norman Selby. Darla is survived by her husband Todd Yurkowski; her seven children Jeremy (Billie Jo) Troendle, Chantel Carlson, Cole Troendle (Latisha Glenn), Brooke Troendle, Dawson Troendle, Charitee Troendle, and Chevy Yurkowski; her five grandchildren; Peirce, Lane, Baillie, Kira and Colton; her parents Bazel and Darlene Carlson; two sisters Marla (Harvey) Brasseur and Charlene Carlson (Steven Duffy); one brother Adam (Glynis) Carlson; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Darla was born in Weyburn on February 19, 1969. She went to school at Midale Central School all her school years. Darla loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart, as well as the rest of her family. Her grandchildren's special name for her was Kookum. Darla loved fishing and loved listening to Johnny Reid; these were probably two of her favourite things, other than hanging out with all her family at many occasions. Darla was very active in sports during her school years doing track and field, cross country, curling, as well as playing ladies fastball with her sister Marla for the Midale ladies' fastball team the Hotel Sluggers. Darla was a very hard worker and would help anyone who needed her help. She particularly loved helping her brother Adam, as well as her cousin Cody, fence. Although, I am sure she had a few words for them some days fencing in the cold, wet conditions; but she loved it and always had a smile on her face. I recall her saying to her uncle Raymond and aunt Joyce that they had to take this fence down because it was crooked and it had to be done right. Darla met and made many friends over the years. She enjoyed spending a lot of time at her parents' farm at Midale. She was there to help them out whether it be with cleaning, cooking, checking cows, or just vistiting. We all have many fond memories of Darla that will forever live on in our hearts and memories. Darla was a strong, amazing woman who is going to be missed by all who knew and loved her. We love and miss you Darla May you rest in peace, we will never forget you as you will live forever in all our hearts and memories. Live, Laugh, Love. A Celebration of Darla's life was held on Friday, April 26 at the Midale Civic Centre from 2:00-4:00 pm. For family and friends so wishing donations in memory of Darla can be made to the Trust Fund for Chevy Yurkowski, c/o Midale Credit Union, Midale.
