Carrie Belva Johnson passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Tatagwa View in Weyburn. Belva was born to the Christian family near Beaubier, Saskatchewan on July 19, 1918. She grew up on a farm nearby, and married Gerhard Johnson on March 11, 1944, and then moved to the Johnson farm. She was a pioneer wife who worked beside her husband on the farm, which was also near Beaubier. They were blessed with one daughter, Carol Jane. Eventually they moved to Alameda in 1979, enjoying the friends and Gerhard's nearby family. Belva enjoyed people, and visited with family, friends and neighbors as they dropped in for coffee. Anyone who crossed her path was befriended with the warmth that was Belva. Gerhard passed away January 11, 1997, and Belva moved to Weyburn. As her personality always greeted with pure joy, she formed close friendships at Legion Towers, in some ways, like an extended family. When necessity led, she moved into House 4 at Tatagwa View, again endearing herself to many there, both residents and staff. At the services, when someone offered her a hymn book, she replied "I can't see." Might it be that she saw into the depths of each person better than any of us? Belva is described by her family as "A consummate mother, grandmother, homemaker and care-giver. She was kind and loving with a great sense of humor. When you noticed the gleam in her eye, you knew that you were to be blessed in a way that few if any can compare. Belva was predeceased by her loving husband Gerhard Johnson, three sisters and one brother Belva is survived by her daughter Carol and her husband Ron Lien, her grandsons: Mark (Deborah), Trevor (Danette) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Belva will be deeply missed. A funeral service for Belva was held on Tuesday, September 16, at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, with Pastor Martin Olson, officiating. Interment followed at St. John's Cemetery, Beaubier. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), 2550 Broad Street, Regina, SK, S4P 3Z4.
