Caroline Zimmerman was born October 31, 1917, in Torquay. Caroline was 96 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Rose Zimmerman; husband, Gordon McKnight; sisters, Florence Steier, Isabel Soroko, Pauline McGillicky; brothers, Frank Zimmerman, Tony Zimmerman, Peter Zimmerman and Ralph Zimmerman. Caroline married Gordon McKnight on July 31, 1937 and they lived on their farm near the hamlet of Viewfield. Caroline and Gordon had four children whom they loved and cherished. Gordon and Caroline farmed and raised their family in Viewfield. They spent their winters in Victoria with their young family from 1952 to 1956 with Gordon's extended family, grandpa (David) and his brother, Roy's family. Caroline often commented in later years that those were some of the best years of their life. In 1964 they purchased a home in Weyburn but continued to run their farm from Weyburn up until 1976 when they retired. Caroline McKnight was a kind, good, honest and decent person who gave all of herself to her family and those she loved. She will be greatly missed and always loved, cherished and appreciated for all the wonderful memories she left us with! She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Shirley (Carl) Kater of Weyburn, daughter, Edith (Cal) Wenzel of Calgary, AB, daughter, Karen Schnell of Calgary, AB, son, Dennis of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Sheila (Bob) Tooke of Regina, Cheryl (Mark) O'Bryne of Housten, TX, Greg (Cindy) Kater of Medicine Hat, AB, Carrie (Brad) Wheeler of Weyburn, Kelly (Stephanie) Kater of Weyburn, Craig Rohatyn of Calgary, AB, Sharlene (Dave) Rickett of Calgary, AB, Heather (Dean) Leask of Calgary, AB, Shane Wenzel of Calgary, AB, Brent (Patti) Schnell of Leduc, AB, Trevin (Tina) Schnell of Mulhurst Bay, AB, Warren (Destiny) Schnell of Chestermere, AB, Brandy (Mark) Howell of Calgary, AB and Tyler McKnight of Calgary, AB; great grandchildren, Lindsey Kater, Brandon, Kevin and Alyssa Tooke, Chelsea and Natasha O'Byrne, Brittany, Jenna and Kirkland Kater, Caitlin Wheeler, Karissa, Ryan, Tamara and Michael Kater, Christina Desfosses, Natasha Rickett, Cody and Chantelle Saunders, Sebastian Wenzel, Tyler and Kirsten Schnell, Robert and Jordan Schnell, Nash, Marek and Presley Howell; great great grandchildren, Kyla, Kale and Cali Kater, Preston Desfossses and Brenden Schnell; sisters, Gertie Blaine, Eleanor Vipond and Edith Mohn as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends. A Visitation was held Thursday, November 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, and a Funeral Service was held Friday, November 22 at 2:00 pm from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Pallbearers were Lindsey Kater, Kevin Tooke, Kirkland Kater, Brandon Tooke, Michael Tooke and Cody Saunders. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn.
