Benjamin Robert "Ben" Dreger passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Ben was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helena Dreger; brothers, Charles and Ernest Dreger and sister, Freida Blucker. Ben was born to Charles and Helena on November 26, 1930 at Lang and was baptized and confirmed in the Lang Lutheran Church. He was raised in a farmhouse with two brothers and two sisters during the depression years. Ben always claimed that every year was better than the last. His education was from Grade 1 to 11, all at the Lang School. Ben always felt that one should earn their living by the sweat of their brow, but the seventh day was for rest and repair. He spent most of his life self-employed, in businesses that he had started. His younger years were spent on the farm at Lang and later a few years were spent in Regina. Ben spent time roofing, cattle and grain farming and would finish his working career as an upholsterer and pawn broker in Weyburn. In his free time he enjoyed dancing, motorcycling and a good political debate. Ben was an active member of the Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club, along with a founding member of the "Flatland Riders Motor Cycle Association. Ben will be lovingly remembered by his son, Dallas (Annette) Dreger of Lang; two daughters, Ramona and Sherry; brother, Otto Dreger of Winnipeg, MB and sister, Ruth of Halifax, NS; step grandchildren, Jeffrey and Matthew Paulhus as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends. A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 PM from the Lang Lutheran Church, Lang, with Pastor Ed Fisher officiating. Interment at Lang Cemetery, Lang. Pallbearers were Mark Vilcu, Glen Dreger, Rod Peters, Rob Dreger, Dave Carlson and Gary Gutheil. A funeral lunch followed at the Lang Hall.
