Aubrey Alvin Ray age 73 years of Weyburn, passed away at 11:52 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Regina General Hospital. Aubrey was born October 21, 1943 at Creelman, to Alan and Georgina (Elias) Ray. He took his schooling at Prairie Lea and Creelman schools. During his school years, Aubrey joined the Scouts and was actively involved in curling, golfing, hockey, baseball and snooker. After Aubrey finished school he started farming alongside his dad and eventually went on to farm by himself. He farmed for many years until health problems would not allow it. Aubrey married Betty Pagan August 2, 1994 at Regina. Aubrey enjoyed going on fishing trips as well as gambling trips. A favourite pastime was playing crib with his cousins, Chris Gottfried and close friend, Mike Beckstead. Aubrey was an avid fan of the Weyburn Red Wings as well as the Weyburn Devils. He enjoyed meeting with and talking to people. Aubrey would do anything he could to help people regardless of whether he knew them or not. Aubrey loved family gatherings and playing with his grandchildren. Aubrey was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Georgina Ray. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty Pagan Ray of Weyburn; children, Ken (Sandy) Pagan of Regina, Brad (Bree) Pagan of Gravelbourg, Bobby Pagan (Carla Fochesato) of Regina, Laura (Stu) Larson of Regina, Lawrence Pagan of Regina; sister, Lorraine (Lyle) Dempsey of Stoughton; nieces and nephews, Bart (Joan) Dempsey of Heward, Brenda (Darcy) Suchy of Dawson Creek, AB, Bonnie Dempsey (Jason Decker) of Creelman and Brad (Megan) Dempsey of Balgonie; 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation was held Friday, December 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service was held Saturday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. Both were held at Fletcher Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Golden Gates Cemetery, Creelman. Pallbearers were Bart Dempsey, Blake Dempsey, Bobby Pagan, Chris Pagan, Nicolas Fochesato-Pagan and Matteo Fochesato-Pagan. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aubrey may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Lung Association.
