Annie is survived by her children: Gary Colbow, Yorkton, Doris (Bruce) Clements, Brandon, MB, Wayne (Carol) Colbow, Pangman, Dale Colbow, Khedive, Brian Colbow (Sherry Fisher), Pangman, Bill Colbow (Zella Littlemore), Khedive, Gregg Janz, Edmonton, AB, Raymond (Deanna) Colbow, Weyburn; two sisters-in-law: Irene Colbow, Pangman, Ida Gurskey, Ogema; 16 grandchildren: Jillian, Brent, Bob, Mark, Geoff, Graham, Bryce, Taralyn, Desmond, Robin, Dallas, James, Krystle, Barrie, Kallie and Dane; 25 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Annie Wagner was born to Anthony and Barbara (nee Schneider) on February 18, 1920. She was born on the family farm which was four miles south of Pangman on Highway 6. She had a half brother Phillip, half sister Lena, one brother Lawrence and a sister Betty. Annie attended school at Khedive which was six miles away. In the summertime, she traveled to school by the school van, but they used horse and sleigh when there was snow on the ground. Annie loved school. If a storm blew up, as often as it did in Saskatchewan , she would cry all day, as it meant not being able to get to the school. Annie completed Grade 9 and started Grade 10. That year, the province changed the curriculum for high school. New books had to be purchased and since this was during the depression, Annie had to withdraw from school due to lack of funds. Annie always put others ahead of herself. Annie remained at home, keeping occupied with the many chores on the farm. One of her favorite times was threshing and it was only proper that she would meet and fall in love with the thresher, Lewis Colbow. They were married on November 24, 1944 and moved to a farm that they had purchased four miles north of highway Junction 6 and 13. On this farm they had no telephone or conveniences so after a year they moved to her brother, Lawrence's farm which was one mile east of Pangman. Lewis and Annie had eight children, Gary, Doris, Wayne, Dale, Brian, Bill, Julienne (Shirley) and Raymond. Yesthat was eight children in 12 years. Her children remember her gathering fresh snow on Sunday and letting it melt overnight for doing the laundry on Monday morning! Getting the children off to school in Pangman meant that Lewis had to take them there every morning and pick them up every afternoon, so another move was made to Khedive in 1955. Lewis and Annie purchased the former Jacques house which solved the problem of getting the children to and from school. Instead of Lewis leaving them every morning at 8:00 a.m. the children could leave the house five minutes before school began. The Colbow family resided here until 1974 at which time a brand new mobile home was purchased and moved to the lot across the street. Moving to the new trailer was therefore one of the easiest moves the family had. While in Khedive, Annie joined the town council and acted as their secretary. When an administrator could not be located for the hamlet, Annie was persuaded to take the position. She remained in this position from 1974 to 1991. During this time she was instrumental, along with John Froh, in bringing running water to the homes in Khedive. Without fail, Annie cooked huge and delicious Sunday dinners, complete with assorted homemade pies, for anyone who was around her homefamily, friends or neighbors who were nearby or those who simply stopped by for a visit. Another thing that she was noted for, was her popcorn balls at Halloweenit was said that people would drive miles and miles in hopes to get some! She knitted and crocheted baby items for each grandchild as well as various other projects she gave away as gifts. She was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing many different garments for both family and friends. She enjoyed watching various sports on television, never missing a Blue Jays' game. She herself, curled and bowled for many seasons locally in Khedive. Annie loved animals, especially cats and dogs, and had several as pets over the years. She very much enjoyed flower gardening, having blue morning glories, babies' breath, violets, tulips, peonies and especially yellow and pink roses in her beautiful yard. Together, Annie and Lewis enjoyed their vegetable garden and the many hours spent tending, canning and preserving the garden's produce. From this garden, she made the very best sauerkraut in town! Lewis passed away in June 1995 about six months after celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Annie remained in Khedive until 1997 when she moved to Legion Towers in Weyburn. She was overjoyed to have her very own suite, filled with all brand new furnishings! In March of 1998, Annie moved to Radville Marian Health Centre and resided comfortably there, for 14 years until the time of her passing. During her time there she loved visiting, playing cards and bingo, attending church services and many of the various activities provided by the staff there. Many a family celebration was held there as well. Extra special moments for Annie were celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary as well as her 80th birthday at the Khedive Recreation Centre surrounded by many family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest! The family would like to thank all the caregivers who looked after her over the past years. Funeral Mass for Annie was held on Wednesday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Pangman, with Fr. Anthony Pangan, celebrant. Interment followed at Khedive Cemetery. All of Annie's remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren were considered honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were her grandsons, Bob McQuiston Geoff Clements, Bryce Colbow, Brent Colbow, James Colbow and Dane Colbow.
