Alice Dugan

Alice Dugan (Herriot) passed away peacefully on May 16, 2013 in Weyburn. She was born September 2, 1920 in Scotland to William and Mary Herriot. Alice married Clarence Dugan during World War II. Clarence, Alice and their oldest son Gary made the move to Canada in 1949. After a short stay in Carivale, Clarence took a position as an agent for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. They were first stationed at Union Jack, and then made their home in Halbrite. Alice enjoyed working in her flower garden, afternoon walks and Sunday afternoon trips to the Badlands or Mainprize Park. Many holidays were taken to Banff when the children were young. Alice journeyed back to Scotland to visit her family and the best trip was when she was able to take her daughter Janice with her. But each trip was cherished and her homeland and heritage was a large part of her life. Alice was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Herriot; three brothers and five sisters, all of Scotland, and her husband, Clarence Dugan. Alice is survived by three children: Gary (Heather) Dugan of Medicine Hat, AB and their children, Tammy, Donna, Trisha and Paul and their families; Jim (Linda) Dugan of Torquay and their daughter, Cindy and family; Janice (Ken) Dodd of Weyburn and their sons, Kenny and Kevin and their families; 25 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; brother, Billy Herriot of Scotland; and sisters-in-law, Helen Holt of Oxbow and Shirley Burke of Regina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A private family graveside service was held at Halbrite on Wednesday, May 22 at 11:00 AM. Donations in memory of Alice may be made to the Halbrite Cemetery of the Alzheimer Society. Condolences may be left at: www.fletcherfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels, Weyburn, 306-842-5432
