Albert was born in Alkabo, North Dakota, to Ida and Rex DeLong on March 7, 1914, and passed away peacefully on April 28, 2013. He was the third of six children. At the age of six, Albert and his family moved to Canada in two covered wagons and settled near Lake Alma, where his parents homesteaded. Albert returned to the family farm in 1936 and in 1943, married Helen Przetocki. He farmed until his retirement in 1984. After Helen's death, he married Olga McAdam and resided in Ottawa where they shared many happy and active years together. Albert is survived by his children, Eleanor (Garry) Humphreys of Peterborough, ON; Lorraine (Les)Anderson of Prince Albert, Gayle (Jim) Colson of Squamish, BC; Eugene (Gisela) of Saskatoon; and Carol (Luciano) Medinilla of San Diego, California; one sister, Inez Lund of Weyburn, as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Aaron Friggstad and the staff of the Circle Drive Special Care Home for the care and kindness our father received in his last years. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, at Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor Street, (corner of 8th Avenue N and Windsor Street). A private family interment will follow at a later date.
