Ada Hunter, late of Regina, formerly of Weyburn, passed away Wednesday August 1, 2012, at the age of 92 years. Ada was predeceased by her husband, William Wilson Hunter; her parents, Bernice Pack (nee Anderson) and William Pack; brother, Daniel "Danny" Pack; sister-in-law, Fern Pack; brother-in-law, Jack Geiger; sister-in-law, Ida (Bert) Geiger. Ada is survived by her only child, Dr. Don Hunter; siblings: Murray, Neil (Rose), Allan (Sandy), Beth, Willene, Lois (Chris) Naylor, Carol (Rod) Stevens; sister-in-law, Elaine; special niece, Mavis Wallace; two very close friends: Kay Morton and Mable Charlton along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ada was born on September 30, 1919 in Cardnuff. She attended Normal School (teachers college) in Regina. Ada taught for 35 years, first at Moose Creek and then at Griffin, then retired to Weyburn. Ada was an avid member of the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation and the Weyburn Curling Club. She loved to crochet, knit, sew and quilt. She was an avid observer of all sports, especially her beloved Blue Jays and in recent years she learned the game of football and became a loyal Rider Fan, but her special sport was always curling which she paticipated in as a skip until she was 90 years old. In her mid eighties she received a certificate from the Canadian Curling Association when she curled an eight "ender". She married Bill on January 2, 1945 and was a devoted wife and then a loving, caring, open minded mother to Don. She was devoted to her profession and to her students, many who have kept in touch until the end. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. A funeral service for Ada was held on Wednesday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn with Sharon Elliott, officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Honorary pallbearers were Kay Morton, Mary Bakken, Bonnie Little, Jean Fahlman, Claire Kuhn, Valerie McLeod, Andrew Goeres and Mavis Wallace (special niece). Active pallbearers were Barclay Charlton, Wayne Wheeler, Murray Goeres, David Little, Rod McLeod and Jim Hallberg.
