Weyburn’s 40th Communithon has baby races, dancing, and sport teams

These photos show highlights of the children dancing to "Monster Mash", the baby race, and the contests between the Comp Eagles and the Gold Wings teams

The 40th edition of the Weyburn Communithon had a wide variety of live entertainment in addition to the virtual performances from schools and other community groups on Friday at the Weyburn Legion Hall.

The Legion Colour Guard led in the dignitary guests for the opening ceremonies of the fundraiser event, including the reading of the Communithon poem by Jean Fahlman, and local, provincial and federal government officials.

A highlight early on was an impromptu dance with young children in their costumes, as they danced to the song, “Monster Mash”, and were then interviewed by hosts Nick Coroluick and Lindsee Michel.

A baby race with four youngsters under one provided entertainment also before the videos of school children singing were shown.

At noon, the highlight was the Comp Eagles football team and the Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings girls, and they went head to head in a number of “minute to win it” contests, with the Gold Wings coming out on top and getting the privilege of pieing the Eagles players.

Altogether the two teams brought in a total of $1,594 in pledges phoned in to support the teams.
