KISBEY = Kisbey cares about its history so a partnership between the Royal Canadian Legion and the Kisbey Museum committee has put a much-needed coat of paint on the building that houses treasures from the area’s past.
A grant from the Saskatchewan Veterans Service Club Support Program covered the purchase of supplies, while labour was provided by volunteers from the Kisbey Museum Committee, the legion, the Kisbey Helpers group and the general community.
Nankivell Trucking and the Smithfield Society provided equipment and the Village of Kisbey donated materials.
The museum is located at 245 Ross Street in a pair of repurposed one-room country schools that were originally built in the early 1900s. It is open to the public Thursday afternoons and evenings for the remainder of August and by appointment through the village office after month’s end.
Visitors are welcome to drop in and view the more than 1,300 exhibits, including a growing military remembrance section, enjoy light refreshments and socialize with members of the community.
