On June 19, family members gathered at the Wawota Cemetery in memory of Daniel Nyeste. Those present were Merv and Linda Satterthwaite, Matthew and Joey Nyeste of Winnipeg, Les and Gail Oliver, Mark, Lindsay and Cydney Nixon from Moosomin, Susan Gobel, Brandon Gobel, Karen Oliver, Theresa and Ezekiel Kosolofski of Regina, Jessica Oliver of Saskatoon, Nathan Oliver of Wapella, Norman and Jackie Oliver of Morris, Man., and Heather Oliver and Lexi of Wawota.

Cremation had taken place and interment was in the Wawota Cemetery with his grandparents , Grant and Pat Oliver.

At the recent graduation exercises in Wawota, Governor General Awards were presented to Brianna De Roo for 2019 and to Madison Wilson for 2020. Congratulations girls!

Victoria Weatherald has been recognized by Brandon University for achieving a grade point average of 4.0 or higher and has been named to the President's Honour Society for the 2020-21 year. She is pursuing a degree in physical education.

Congratulations to Amy Jackson and Carson Brady, who were married at Saskaire, Carlyle on June 26.

Joe Brisbois enjoyed a surprise Father's Day visit from his daughter Donna Schaffer and granddaughter Jenna Mayer of Regina.

Crystal Mary Yanyu attended the Grade 12 graduation of her daughter Audrey Barath in Esterhazy on June 26.

Word has been received of the passing of Leonard Rance of Carman, Man. He passed away on June 20 at the age of 93 years. Wawota fondly remembers Leonard and his wife Mary. Mary was the United Church minister in Wawota in the 1990s. Both were great assets to our community.

Keith Olson and Garry Dickson have resumed with providing music at care homes in the area. They entertained at the Wawota Care Home on June 22 and at the Kipling Care Home on June 23.
