Things that tick me off

As I have been sick for the last month and a half, it has been easier to tick me off than normal. One thing I never thought I'd miss is Tim Hortons. I am not even allowed to consume caffeine, why on earth would I crave it? Well apparently I do.

As I have been sick for the last month and a half, it has been easier to tick me off than normal.

One thing I never thought I'd miss is Tim Hortons. I am not even allowed to consume caffeine, why on earth would I crave it?

Well apparently I do.

The chain has 53 restaurants in Saskatchewan, none of which are within 45 minutes of Carlyle according to the company's website.

At home in Montreal, there are 26 all within 10 minutes of the downtown core. I guess I had been consuming it a lot more than I realized.

I missed out this year on rolling up the rim on my favorite teas. I probably wouldn't have won anything big, but even winning a donut or two is pretty darn exciting on a boring day.

Yes, I understand that this is a much smaller province. But come on no one even got to win a car this year in this entire province. Several were won in Quebec and Ontario.

Fifty-three Timmies for one million people, that's 18,868 people per franchise!

I've been told that it would kill off small businesses in the smaller towns, but then why is it we chose to have other big chains in Carlyle? I haven't noticed this taking a toll on the local business.

I miss bringing in a fresh batch of Tim Bits to work, and watching my co workers faces light up. I don't know why but I always felt that Tim Hortons brought the community together.

In the winter I would meet there with all of my friends. We stayed out of trouble, and never spent our money on partying or drugs; we sat around chatting until the middle of the night over a few hot drinks. It was the host to our girl's nights, the place we brought our new boyfriends to be introduced to the group, and as we got older the place we went to when everything else was closed after a big dancing night.

As it got warmer, summers were spent hanging out by the water with Ice Caps and smoothies (my personal favorite). We'd walk for miles on the boardwalk, happy to have our cold refreshments in the blistering heat.

My sister recently rubbed it in my face that frozen lemonade for only a dollar has been added to the menu. Two of my favorite things put together, slushies and lemonade! My mouth is watering just at the thought.

I love Carlyle, and maybe it is home to its own hidden treasures. If this is the case, someone should inform me. Let me in on the best things to try in town!

Until then, I am left ticked off that I can't have my favorite breakfast on early days, or drink my smoothies when the heat is too much to handle.
