Sending birthday wishes

I read the Observer from a long way away, from Montreal in fact. I have to admit that I really enjoy it as it is a great change from we read about here every day. Sometimes I wish big city life could resemble small town life more often than it does.

I read the Observer from a long way away, from Montreal in fact. I have to admit that I really enjoy it as it is a great change from we read about here every day. Sometimes I wish big city life could resemble small town life more often than it does. I do have a bias though when it comes to the Observer and I did not randomly find it and start reading. My daughter, Jessica, is one of the reporters at the paper and the reason for this letter.

You see it is Jessica's 21st birthday next week (the 18th) and we will not be able to celebrate with her except via Canada Post and the internet so I thought I would send a letter to the paper with the hope that some of the kind people of Carlyle will wish her a happy birthday. If you know her and see her around town just say Happy Birthday, nothing more is needed.

She has been in Saskatchewan 4 months now and it is the longest she has been gone from home. I still miss her everyday and yet I am the proudest mom ever and show off my copies of the paper to everyone I can (and really we read it all, not just Jessica's articles, which is why we know that there is a typo in the ad for the United Church service).

I know that Jessica loves being part of your town and I hope she stays there as long as possible. 2,600 kilometers is far from home but not as far away as she could be so everyday I am thankful she chose Carlyle over Africa.

Happy Birthday dear Jessica!
