Perhaps it's about time a set of traffic lights be installed at the junction of Highway 13 at Highway 9.
Within a matter of just 2 months there have been numerous car accidents, including a tragic fatality.
There is simply no safe place for pedestrians to cross the highway. Just the other day I witnessed a near miss as yet another person attempted to cross; having to run, as a delivery driver clearly did not see his attempt.
With summer comes higher traffic numbers as vacationers make their way north to the lakes. We cannot continue to put people's lives at risk.
There has been a great attempt to help the situation with the widening of lanes. Unfortunately it's evident that some drivers are simply confused by the clearly indicated arrows.
Add to that fact, the majority of the population doesn't know how to correctly follow the simple stop sign procedure of who should have the right of way.
With future development under way at that very intersection, we can only hope as a community to see some more changes in terms of the traffic safety.
While a set of lights may not be the answer for all problems, in certainly would help indicate who should have the right to proceed.
