At the beginning of July, Alida increased its population by two – the community wishes to welcome Neil and Brenda Roberts (from B.C.) to our area. Welcome folks – I do hope you will enjoy our little town.

Hope you had a great Canada Day and survived the heat.

Dale Anthony participated in the Canada Day parade at Redvers. He drove one of his tractors which pulled a trailer with a stationery engine on display.

Many of our local residents enjoyed the beginning of their holidays this past weekend going to their campers at the Moose Creek Regional Park.

Linda and Don Akins helped her mother celebrate her 93rd birthday in Redvers on June 30 as well as other family members. Happy birthday Mrs. Rogg, hope you had a great day.

Congratulations to Linda Akins who was the lucky winner of $2,265 on June 30 from the 50/50 draw held in honor of Dana Nelson & Jesse Germain (bride/groom-to-be). Also congratulations to Dana and Jesse on their share of the 50/50 and best wishes on their upcoming wedding on July 10. Due to the COVID pandemic a shower and/or stag could not be held in honour of the happy couple, so her friends came up with this 50/50 draw idea instead – neat idea girls.

The Alida Swimming Pool opened its doors on July 2 for this year’s swimming season. And the first set of swimming lessons began on July 5. Of course wouldn’t you know it – lessons were temporarily cancelled due to a rain shower. Sorry kids, but the moisture is greatly needed.

Jeff Cowan and friend Raylene Markoski spent a few days camping in the area, visiting with friends and also having a quick visit with his parents Gray and Edel before heading home to Regina on July 4.

The Alida Community extends sincere sympathy to the Arthur families on the death of James (Jim) Arthur of Regina, who passed away June 25 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Lillian, two brothers-in-law and a niece. Jim is survived by his wife Cheryl (Curtis), children Layne (Sandra), Leanne (Trevor) and their families, his sister Jennetta Arthur-Devlin, in-laws and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be arranged later in the fall. Condolences are extended to all family members as well.
