Alida news - books still for sale

Hope all dads had a great Father’s Day on June 20. Members of the Alida Recreation Board were busy preparing the swimming pool for the upcoming swimming season.

Hope all dads had a great Father’s Day on June 20.

Members of the Alida Recreation Board were busy preparing the swimming pool for the upcoming swimming season. This season swimming lessons are scheduled to begin on July 5-9 for the first session with lessons held in the mornings.

Session 2 will be held July 19-23 and Session 3 will be held August 9-13. Due to COVID guidelines classes will be a limited size. To register contact Cheryl at 452-7098. It’s a great way for the kids to learn to swim, exercise and enjoy the warm hot summer days. Respect the rules and enjoy the summer days at the pool.

Just another reminder that the Alida Archives and Library are still busy selling out their library books as the library area will be closing down. There’s still a good selection of children’s books, young adult and adult books available. To set up an appointment to meet someone contact either Shelly at 306-485-7023 or me at 306-485-8561.

We’ll gladly meet with you and let you pick out your choice of books. The majority of these books originated from Alida School Library when the school was closed, other books were graciously donated to the library as well as some were purchased, of course by the library board members.

Noticed a note on the door at Just Off Center Street Grocers that they are going to extend their business hours to include Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also the 361 Café has changed their business hours for the summer. They are open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday; Saturday mornings from 7-10, and Thursday evenings till 8 p.m.

There are more and more individuals who are receiving their COVID-19 shots now, including their second shots. It’s so great to see that we are slowly but surely getting on top of this pandemic. We will defeat it and hopefully be back to normal soon. Way to go people.

Wishing the following a very happy birthday this coming week – Diane Pottapinski, Lyndsay Jensen, Paul Poulsen, Melissa Sauer, Chelsea Hull, Rosamund Barber, Murray Nelson and Bob Harrison. Hope you all have a great day and many more to come.
