The Wings have taken their last three games serious and know that every game now counts towards their playoff run come the New Year.
Weyburn has dispatched the Notre Dame Hounds, Estevan Bruins and now the Kindersley Klippers.
Weyburn played host to the Klippers Tuesday night and it was a goaltenders dual until the shooters in the second period made their presence known.
Weyburn's Bruce Keegan opened the scoring for the Wings at the 5:06 mark of the second period with help from line-mates Rodney Cowie and Brock Appleyard.
Less than two minutes later on the power play, Jesse Ross along with Rhys Thomas made it 2-0 for the Weyburn Red Wings. The score would remain the same for the remainder of the middle period and the Wings would go into the final period with a comfortable two-goal lead.
Ross would then stun the Klippers with a short-handed (and his second of the night) goal at the 7:08 mark of the third with help from TJ Wees and Thomas to make it a 3-0 lead.
Kindersley would however dig deep and give the Wings fans at Crescent Point Place fits as they stormed back with two unanswered goals of their own as Taylor Wasden and Tanner Exner would score to make it a 3-2 Wings lead to the 12:54 mark of the third period.
But it would be Keegan who would score the Wings' fourth (and his second of the night) which would also end up as the game winning goal at the 18:01 mark of the game.
The Klippers would not roll over and with a dangerous penalty situation Weyburn would sit a man short while Kindersley would go to work on Weyburn's netminder Mitch Kilgore.
The Klippers' Kurt Leedahl would score and maker it a 4-3 contest with 1:03 remaining on the clock. Try as they might, the Wings would escape with a 4-3 win to put them one point ahead of the Klippers in the SJHL south division.
Wings tear-up Bruins
You just knew that this old rivalry was going to be a fast paced, hard hitting and high scoring game. Most just didn't expect the score to be so lop-sided in the Wings' favour.
The Bruins found themselves in a bit of hot water right off the get-go and with one less Bruin skater on the ice it looked like Weyburn could strike first.
But as the old puck bounces in this league it was Troy Hunter of the Bruins to strike first at the 1:26 mark, short handed, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Weyburn's Coltyn Sanderson would finish off the power play with a goal at the 1:50 mark of the opening period. Assists were awarded to Lucas Ulmer and Ross for their hard work on the power play.
The Bruins would strike again in the first period with Hunter picking up his second of the evening on a Bruin's power play at the 13:20 mark of the first period to send them to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.
Both teams would trade rushes and penalties but neither team could increase their share of goals in the second period and the teams would once again retire to their dressing rooms with the score remaining 2-1 in the Bruins favour.
Midway through the third period the Wings' scoring would come to life again and it would be Lucas Ulmer on the power play, which would even the game at 2-2, with help from Thomas and Ross.
It would then be Ross' turn to increase the Wings' lead with help from Thomas and Rhys at the 11:22 mark of the period to make it a 3-2 advantage for Weyburn.
Just a few short minutes later Appleyard would put a stranglehold on the game with his first goal on the evening to make it a 4-2 contest at the 14:11 mark of the final period. Assists were given to Keegan and Taylor Ernst for their part in the scoring drive.
With time running out the Estevan Bruins took their goalie out of play in favour of an additional skater but Ross would pick up his second goal of the evening on an empty net to give the Wings a solid 5-2 margin. Wees and Appleyard were credited with assists on the final goal.
The Nipawin Hawks will travel to Weyburn on Friday night and Estevan will return to the CPP Arena undoubtedly for some revenge from this last meeting these two teams just had. The following week the Wings will be on the road to Nipawin, Melfort and LaRonge before coming home to play on December 17 and 18th, in front of their hometown crowd.
