Weyburn Comp Eagles, minor football gear up for new season

Football from U10 up to the Comp Eagles is underway in September, with schedules set for all teams

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comp Eagles football team had an early start to the new season by playing an exhibition scrimmage in Estevan on Friday against the Estevan Elecs.

The Comp Eagles will travel to Saskatoon on Friday, Sept. 2 for an exhibition jamboree. This trip will only be for the Grades 10, 11 and 12 players.

The senior regular season schedule starts on the road at Yorkton on Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m., then they will travel to Moose Jaw Central on Saturday, Sept. 17, with kickoff at 1 p.m.

They will be at home versus the Estevan Elecs on Friday, Sept. 23 on the WMF Field starting at 7 p.m., followed by a home game versus Swift Current on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.

The Eagles will be at Moose Jaw Peacock on Saturday, Oct. 8, with game time at 1 p.m., then they will be at home versus Moose Jaw Vanier on Saturday, Oct. 15, with the kickoff at 4 p.m.

The Junior Varsity season schedule will see the squad play at Moose Jaw on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at home against Moose Jaw Central on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and then at Lumsden on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

For Weyburn Minor Football, the following is the home schedule of games this fall.

The first home game will be on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m., when the U14 Falcons will host the Oilers.

The big weekend for home games is Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25, following the Comp Eagles game on Friday night. The U12 Ravens will host the Spartans at noon, and the U14 Falcons will host the Steelers at 2 p.m.

The U10 Jamboree will be hosted in Weyburn on Sunday, Sept. 25, starting at 11 a.m.

The next home game is Saturday, Oct. 1, as the U14 Falcons follow after the Comp Eagles game, hosting the Raiders at 5 p.m.

The U12 Ravens will then host the Chargers on Friday, Oct. 7 under the lights at 7 p.m.
