Two Weyburn Minor Football teams have strong wins at home

The U12 Ravens defeated the Assiniboia Rockets 52-18, and the U14 Falcons beat the Estevan Oilers 56-0.

WEYBURN – Weyburn Minor Football had two teams play their first home game of the season on Saturday evening, and both teams came away with victories.

The U12 Ravens came up with a big win Saturday, bringing their season to 1-1, defeating the Assiniboia Rockets 52-18.

They took on the Assiniboia Rockets on home turf, donning some retro jerseys for game day.

On offence, Caleb Duhamel had 215 yards rushing, including a 76-yard TD run on the first play of the game; Evrhet Schenher had 129 yards rushing, plus two receptions for 19 yards; Finley Clark had 38 yards rushing, and one reception for seven yards; Jason Kelly ran for six yards.

The quarterbacks were Ranson Jordens, who went 3/6 passing for 26 yards and 21 rushing yards, and Zaven Travis, who was 0/2 passing and had four rushing yards.

On defense, Corbin Dyke had 10 tackles; Tuckyr Brown had four tackles; Preston Walter had three tackles; and Logan Payak and Dierks Schneider both had two tackles. Lexington Roy, Cale Porter, Zeke Haider, Evrhet Schenher, Caleb Duhamel and Brogan Wagner each had one tackle.

The Ravens next action will be a rematch in Assiniboia on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.

In the second game, the U14 Falcons beat the Estevan Oilers 56-0.

On offence, Cooper Knox was 4/7 passing for 44 yards, with three rushes for 52 yards and three touchdowns, only playing the first half.

The offensive MVP was Hudson Maloney, who was 1/4 passing for 65 yards, and his first touchdown pass. He had eight rushes for 89 yards and one touchdown.

Ella Schenher had five rushes for 34 yards and two TDs, plus one catch for seven yards, and one two-point rush, and 5/6 for the extra point.

Jack Bell had two rushes for 26 yards, and two catches for 34 yards; Lars Frederiksen had two rushes for 43 yards, one TD, and one catch for 65 yards; Branson Law had one rush for 21 yards; Weston Whitford had one catch for three yards.

On defence, Max Vennard had 14 tackles, one interception, and was named the defensive MVP.

Alex Labrecque had nine tackles and three sacks; Keaton Walter had seven tackles; Kyro Klapak had five tackles; Lincoln Lillijord had four tackles; Leif Clark had four tackles and one sack; Lincoln Marshall had three tackles; Kohen Sanguin had two tackles; and Cole Payak and Adam Schaefer both had one tackle.
