The Estevan TS&M bantam AA Bruins have been eliminated from provincial title contention after they fell to the Weyburn Crescent Point Wings 6-5 and 8-3 in their two-game total-goal series.

The first matchup was played at the Civic Auditorium last Tuesday evening and saw the Bruins come from behind in the third period, only to lose in heartbreaking fashion.

The game was tied heading into the second period as Zach Paxman for the Bruins and Regan Nagy for Weyburn each scored to make it 1-1. Chase McKersie and Tyler Hengen each found the back of the net for the Bruins in the second, however the Wings matched that total and added two more to take a 5-3 lead into the final frame.

Estevan was able to come back in the third and tie the game at five apiece on the legs of goals from Kale Little and Dylan Lay, with the latter coming with 1:54 remaining. The wind was taken from their sails just a minute later however, as the Wings regained the lead a minute later and went on to win the game 6-5.

The second contest was played in Weyburn on Thursday and was a much different affair. The Wings used a four-goal outburst in the first period to get things rolling in an 8-3 victory. Scoring for the Bruins in that game were McKersie, Lay and Jamie Yanko.

The Bruins also had a regular league game in Regina against the Senators on Sunday. Estevan fell behind early and couldn't recover, dropping a 5-2 decision. Paxman and Brendan Johnson provided the offense for the Bruins, Austin Wilvers took the loss in goal.

Estevan (7-5-2) has two more road games this weekend, starting on Saturday in Moose Jaw against the Warriors at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Bruins will be in Swift Current to face the Raiders at 3:15 p.m.
