Brian Fitzpatrick started golfing at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course at about 4:30 in the morning on Saturday. His friend Kris Carley of Carnduff is playing alongside him.

Neither rain, nor strong wind, nor even special weather statement issued for funnel clouds earlier on Saturday could keep these two dedicated golfers away from fulfilling the promise to play golf from dawn until dusk in an effort to support Kidsport Saskatchewan.

So since early morning, they've been moving around the course with Kidsport flags attached to their golf cart, consistently playing golf.

As of 2 p.m. on one of the longest days of the year, Fitzpatrick and Carley were on the 69th hole.

They plan to keep playing until they cannot see at night, which means they still have good six hours of playing.

Wednesday’s Mercury will have more on the Estevan’s Longest Day of Golf.
