The Â鶹ÊÓƵeast A’s U15 AAA baseball team continued their strong play in league action this past week, winning two of three games.

The A’s defeated the Estevan Brewers 12-3 on July 30 to extend their winning streak to four games. Carter Beck paced the attack with three runs batted in and two hits, while Dylan Frey knocked in two.

Frey pitched three innings for the A’s as well, only allowing two baserunners.

The winning streak came to an end Saturday in a 9-4 loss to the Moose Jaw Canucks in the first game of a double-header. Beck once again brought in two runs for the A’s.

Mitch Himmelspach struck out eight in four innings of work.

The Canucks led 5-3 through three innings, and then scored twice in each of the fourth and fifth innings to pull away.

The A’s rebounded with a 10-2 win over the Canucks in the second half of the doubleheader. The A’s scored four times in the first inning, and added four more in the third to put the game virtually out of reach.

Himmelspach had three hits, and Beck, Callum Hollinger and Aiden Trimble each brought in two runs for the A’s.

Trimble went six innings for the A’s, striking out 14 of the batters he faced.

The A’s next games will be Aug. 8 when they visit the East Central Mills in Balcarres. Then they will host the Weyburn Beavers Aug. 12 in Alameda at 6 p.m.

A pitcher from Kipling had a game he’ll never forget on Monday afternoon.

Kaiden Lyons, who is a member of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Twins under-18 AAA team, tossed a no-hitter on Monday afternoon in the Twins 2-1 victory over the Moose Jaw Canucks in Weyburn.

Lyons allowed two walks, while two more Canucks reached base on an error. One of the errors generated the lone run of the game for the Canucks.

He struck out five and needed just 84 pitches for the complete game effort.

The Twins won the game in the bottom of the seventh and final inning when Ty Nikolejsin ground into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded. Ethan Ernst beat the play at the plate and safely slid into home.
