MOOSOMIN — The Rocanville Tigers must have had a few extra bowls of Frosted Flakes after roaring into Langenburg, taking on the Warriors on Dec. 14. This was the first time the two powerhouse teams of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ have met, and it will be some time before Langenburg visits Rocanville on their home turf—the two won’t face each other again until Jan. 31.
Rocanville hit strong in the first period, amassing a 4-0 lead in that first frame with Taylor Thomson initiating the race, followed by Dawson Springer to double the lead, then Jacob Tibbatts making it a double-double—adding two goals to give the Tigers the four-point lead.
The Warriors fought back with a double of their own, thanks to a pair of twine-ticklers from Mike Rogoschewsky to bring the game 4-2, but Rocanville’s Thompson would contribute one more goal for a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes.
Third period action was all Rocanville with Troy Hamilton furthering their lead, then Tibbatts and Thompson completing their hat tricks for a staggering 8-2 final.
The game would prove to be the lone contest in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Division with the Wapella Blackhawks vs. Esterhazy Flyers game in Esterhazy postponed, anticipated to be re-scheduled at a later date.
At press time last week, Rocanville sat atop the SEHL with a pristine 6-0 record and 12 points, and rounding out the Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Langenburg was at their heels with 11 points (tied with the Canora Cobras in the North) and 5-1-1 record. Esterhazy is in the middle of the standings at 3-2, followed by Wapella at 1-4. The Churchbridge Imperials are still looking for their first win of the year with an 0-4 record.
