Bryce Renolds tears down the track as the checkered flag waves him in past the finish line. Carlyle hosted a Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Corner Racing Circuit race on Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Bowan-Rekken Memorial Track. Many turned out for the fun event, and competition was fierce between the riders in what is the end-part of the racing season.

Starting as a series of low, gurgling rumbles, then climbing rapidly to a chorus of ripping, high-pitched screeches, riders at the Bowan-Rekken Memorial MotoX Track in Carlyle took off in a cloud of bluish smoke, one of the many races held at the track recently.

The races, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, were delayed due to heavy mud at the Carlyle-based track.

The one-day delay didn't affect the turnout though, as the stands filled with fans and families of the riders taking part in the races.

This was the second weekend in a row that Carlyle hosted races from the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC.)

The racing was impressive throughout the pleasant day, though one final race grabbed the spectators more than any other.

In the women's category, local favourite Katie Lees was pushing throughout her races that day to get past front-runner Kristi Moore.

The final race of the day for the women's division saw the two racing the track, each digging in and playing the track as they best could.

Moore, the front-runner, grimly held her lead as Lees repeatedly closed to past.

The match proved to be one that showed off the skills of each racer to its max. Lees always gaining ground on corners, and not afraid to hit some rough dirt to cut her corners tight, and Moore, who laid out the speed on the straightaways, only to lose her improved lead once the pair entered the corners again.

The two were so far ahead of the pack that they had lapped the last of the racers that day in their constant vying for position.

Several times Lees, closing in on Moore and moving into a passing position, would find herself cut off by Moore, as she grimly held onto her lead.

When the checkered flag finally came down on the fifth lap, the race ended much as it had been for the majority of the race, with Moore pulling in first and Lees following on hard for a close second.

The excitement of the races kept the crowd glued to the bleachers throughout the races, which finished for the day at 5 p.m.

The final race of the season in Carlyle will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Top three winners from each division on Sunday, Sept. 12.
