On Monday February 10th the Cougars were eager for the school bell to ring because there was a 5:00 hockey game they needed to get ready for. The Cougars were full of energy as they laced up their skates and snapped on their helmets. During the first period Kale Arndt makes a quick decision when the puck sails into his corner and he maneuvers the puck through the crowd resulting in one goal for Carlyle. Mason Barta battles hard in his zone, as a winger he knows his position and got the job done as he carries the puck up the ice adding a point to the scoreboard in the second period. Arcola is a strong team showing no signs of slowing down. Knowing this Grady Benjamin and Ty Fehrenbach play their defense positions with great determination, never taking their eye of the play. There's never a dull moment for the puck when Tyrell Dixon is on the ice, he's like a cat chasing a mouse, never giving up till he's got it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Max Waugh plays his position like a pro, as a winger he covers his side of the ice always putting pressure on his opponent. Daine Thomas never misses a practice and it shows in his quick feet and smooth hands when he has the puck. Jakson Humphries could play any position on the ice and do an awesome job, he's a well rounded hockey player and the fans could see that when he put the puck in the net helping the Cougars to take the lead. Alexander Bradley used every move he had during this game, as Arcola took shot after shot on our net, with each period he made it harder for Arcola to make a play. The Cougars took this game for a win, great team work kids.
The Carlyle Cougars and Redvers Rockets
play hockey
On Monday, Feb. 13 the Carlyle Cougars and the Redvers Rockets battle for the win in a regular league game. Daine Thomas starts the Cougars off on the scoreboard with a nice goal in less than a minute into the game. Mitch Himmelspach wants a piece of the action and places it in the back of the Rockets net with a nice backhand pass from Chase Robertson. With Grady Benjamin's long reach the Rockets had a hard time getting the puck into our zone when he was on defense. When the door opens Tyrell Dixon's feet hit the ice skating and for his whole shift he never slows down and this paid off as he scores a few goals putting the Cougars in the lead. Mason Barta is such a valuable player to this team because he covers his side of the ice and doesn't think twice about passing the puck when the pressures on. Blake Robertson understands the game of hockeywhich makes him a great hockey player and the coaches know when he's on his shift he always makes things happen. The Cougars won against the Rockets in this game but the Rockets didn't make it easy for them.
Carlyle on the road
to Carievale
The Carlyle Cougars travelled to Carievale on Feb. 15 for their last league game of the season. The Cougars wasted no time setting up the play with Tyrell Dixon winning the face off, heading straight for the opposing net. Grady Benjamin refused to have any pucks go in the net while he was on defense. Darcy Rae caught anyone that came into her zone and gained possession of the puck for the Cougars. Mitch Himmelspach is a great player in front of the net. Blake Robertson has dedication and determination and when you add his hockey skills to that the outcome is always a puck in the net. Samantha Colpitts always takes a look when she has the puck. Alexander Bradley grabbed anything they threw at him making it hard for Carievale to stay in the game. The Cougars went home with a win.
