聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Carlyle Novice Cougar teams 1 and 2 had four players from the Estevan SJHL Junior A Bruins join them on the ice for their practice on Thursday, Feb. 6. 聽聽
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Both the Novice Cougar teams were chosen as the Carson Safety Services 鈥淢inor Hockey Teams of the Month鈥, which is a program that sees the teams receive various perks under the program, one of which was being able to test their skills along side four players on the current roster of the Estevan Bruins, at practice on their home ice.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Suiting up for the Bruins were Kade McMillen, Dane Sardelli, Eric Boers and Mason Strutt. Danny Ewen, the Bruins social organizer, also accompanied the players on the short road trip out of Estevan.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The players loosened up with a few warm-up drills and then it was onto the shootout. They split up into two squads, each side stacked with two of the Bruins. Each squad had a set number of pucks and the side to score all the pucks first, won the shootout. The competition was spirited with both sides determined to come out on top. The goalies, getting the bulk of the action, were able to stone a couple of the Bruins and as well the Novices made some good moves that impressed the guest Bruin players.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Carson Safety Services program also provides the Novice teams with tickets to an SJHL game in Estevan, a tour of the Bruin鈥檚 dressing room, as well as a pizza party during the first intermission for the players and parents attending.
