May 26, saw the first race of the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC) held in Carlyle. Now with the season coming to a close the Bowan-Rekken Memorial Moto-X Track will host another race before the season is over.

On Sept. 15, the same weekend as Homespun, the motocross races will be held. Separate from Homespun, it is an extra event held during the weekend allowing people to take in one more activity while here.

The SCRC has been happening throughout the summer with races held in Carlyle, Oxbow, Estevan and Weyburn. The Sept. 15 race will be the second last of the season, with one more happening in Estevan on Sept. 29.

It hosts racers from across the southeast and central Saskatchewan. People from south western Manitoba even make the drive in order to compete in this exciting circuit.

The one-day event will kick off with registration at 7 a.m. Practice will commence at 9 a.m. and the races will start shortly after. It is $5 admission for spectators over the age of 12, while those 12 and under enter for free. This allows for people to witness fantastic racing throughout the entire day.

There will be many classes available for the racers to enter into including 50cc, both 2 and 4 strokes. Small wheel beginner with 65 cc and 85 cc bikes. A 65cc class and 85 cc class are both open as well. A Supermini class will race, which is open to those 16 and under.

For big wheel bikes a 125cc class will be racing. A women's class is open to bikes 85cc or more. A, B, C, and Youth classes will also be going that day. These are some of the riders who get the big air off table tops.

There is also a vet class for people over 30 years-old to compete in, which also boasts a number of great racers who sail over tabletop jumps and sling dirt while rounding corners on the track.

On Sept. 8 there is a race in Weyburn with the SCRC, followed by the race in Carlyle on Sept. 15, and ending with a race in Estevan on Sept. 29. Registration all starts at 7 a.m., with practice beginning at 9 a.m.

Following the race in Estevan there will be a banquet and awards ceremony for the competitors. The top five throughout the season, who have accumulated the most points in each category, will be recognized. Most Improved in each class will also be handed out, as well as various Sportsmanship Awards.

So far the season has gone over very well. There is a lot of talent and has been growing in numbers each year. Dirt slinging and bikes flying, it is sure to be entertaining to anyone who enjoys races.

"There should be a good turn out because it's the same time as Homespun and the Show 'N Shine. It just adds another event to the community for people to enjoy." Kelly Rekken stated.

If anyone wishes to volunteer at the motocross races it is asked that you contact Rekken at 453-4446.
