The Saskatchewan Winter Games were successful for many young athletes in the area who successfully made the Team Â鶹ÊÓƵeast.
Overall the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast took home sixth in the medal count out of nine regions. They took home 37 medals overall including 10 gold, 15 silver, and 12 bronze.
Locally this came to mean many youth would find success whether through earning a medal or earning a respectable finish after working hard during the competition.
A gold medal was earned by by the women's hockey team including local curler Angela Hookenson of Lampman. While the male curling team, made up of athletes all from Maryfield including Brayden Stewart, Derrick Kay, Brandon McMullin, and Carrick Friesen.
Silver was earned by both the male and female hockey teams, which included Colton Schell (Lampman), Hayden Cutler (Arcola), and Trey Stocker (Stoughton) on the male team. The female team included hard work from Ashlyn Taillon (Lampman), with Ashton Magotiaux, Makenna Morrison, and Raine Smith of Carlyle.
The badminton team took 8th overall with efforts by Amy Cameron (Alameda), Devin Stewart (Wawota), Dustin Schill (Wawota), Kian Sweeting (Maryfield).
Cassidy Weber (Arcola) earned 13th within figure skating followed closely behind by Kyla Fischer who placed 19th.
Finally, local competitors took part in Rhythmic Gymnastics with Jacey Patterson (Wawota) coming in 14th, Madison Wilson (Wawota) finishing 12th in the All Around competition, Makaila Mansfield (Wawota) taking 10th, and Madison Mansfield took ninth. Sarah Fahlman (Wawota) and Brianna DeRoo (Wawota) tied for seventh in the All Around. DeRoo also took seventh in the Free Exercise and Hoop, while Fahlman took home sixth in this event.
