Hockey holiday spirit

Sorry I missed the deadline last week, it's been a busy time, off the ice and on, the Novice Cougars had 2 games last weekend to add to the Dickens fun, and kept us all hustling and bustling.

Sorry I missed the deadline last week, it's been a busy time, off the ice and on, the Novice Cougars had 2 games last weekend to add to the Dickens fun, and kept us all hustling and bustling. We were off to Redvers for a 5 o clock Friday night game, with #14 Nate Robertson leading our team on the ice and standing strong between the pipes. Our boys played with a lot of heart, although they came up short it wasn't from lack of trying, and cheering from the fans, it was nice to see and hear everyone encouraging the boys, even better is when they come up with a smile and say when do we play again? Well low and behold they would have another game lined up for Sunday afternoon at 3 against the AK combines. With #8 Trey Baker leading his team out wearing the pads, standing with confidence in his crease, and making some really great saves, he would need some help from his defense to keep the rubber from hitting the back of the net. Again the boys played a great game with good poke checks and some great back checking, awesome digging in the corners and along the boards, but they wouldn't be able to pull off a win this weekend. Keep up the hard work at practice boys and keep those feet moving. So in the mean time and in between time they've had 2 practices with a full week of school and the excitement of 2 games on the weekend, the 1st game Saturday Dec.11th the Cougars will host Kipling. #11 Devin "the Devil" Loustel takes his team to the ice for this game, he showed some great moves in the crease and stopped a lot of kipling players from scoring, pouncing like a cat on that loose puck any chance he could. Great job Devil, and the rest of cougars were out there skating their butts trying to protect their zone as best they could. We had some great goals and some nice passes but it wouldn't be enough, good try boys keep working hard boys!

Sunday Dec.12th finds us on the road a little earlier than we're used to, but we're off to Oxbow anyway, some of the parents even beat the care-taker to his own rink! You'll never guess who it was, but their name tis the season! Well we as fans, parents, grandparents and anyone who just came to watch were in for a real treat. We're not sure what the coaches said to fire those boys up, and frankly I'm not sure we want to know! Wow did those boys come out to play, and play hard, what a game, #2 Tyler "the smiler" Colpitts led his team to the ice and held his ground in net, with some great saves to give us the lead when we took the 2nd period break! Everyone was using the boards to clear the zone, they passed to everyone, they were skating fast, they were digging hard, they all took shots, it was FANTASTIC! In the end it was a tie game but it was a great game and I think they all felt it, I know we did, can't wait to see more next weekend!

Catch at the rink.
