Golfing is a special experience for those who love this sport. The entire process of heading to the course, playing the round and heading home afterwards provides peace, joy and connection while giving participants an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

As every golfer knows, a well-maintained course and clubhouse are the icing on the cake.

The Carlyle Golf Club members and community members at large were happy to be a part of the work this fall.

Yearly covering the greens with tarps prevents the snow and ice from destroying the grass and helps the grass to come back to life more quickly in the spring, but it takes lots of hands to secure those tarps in our Saskatchewan winds.

Current members of the Carlyle Golf Club board include Steve Hirtle as president, Ron Gordon as vice-president and Gordon Paulley as secretary. Barry Beaver, Tyler Nistor, Carrie Hengen, George Anderson, Bertha Isleifson, Mitch Wilcox and Christy Jarvis make up the rest of the team helping run the local golf course and facilities.

Jarvis, a newer board member, explained how it was great to have so many people help in different ways.

鈥淚 am here prepping and painting because I like painting and have the time, but it is not just board members doing the renos and maintenance, we have help from various community members from Carlyle and surrounding area,鈥 Jarvis said. She explained that the golf club received a grant for new flooring and that sparked the idea to spruce things up a bit at the same time.

Be ready this spring to support and help out at Carlyle Golf Club, and go check out the new clubhouse look when the season opens.
