Estevan Bruins salute Aren Miller for his contributions

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Bruins paid tribute to one of the long-time members of the organization prior to Friday night's home game against the Battlefords North Stars.

Assistant coach Aren Miller was presented with the SaskEnergy Volunteer Champion Award for his dedication to the club. 

Miller has served as an assistant coach for the Bruins since the beginning of the 2013-14 campaign. 

The product of Oxbow was drafted 52nd overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He played junior hockey for the Spokane Chiefs for three seasons before moving onto his professional career, where he made stops with the Adirondack Red Wings, Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and Oklahoma City Blazers before retiring from professional hockey in 2003 and returning to southeast Saskatchewan.

During his time with the Bruins, Miller has balanced his coaching duties with a full-time job and coaching in the Estevan Minor Hockey Association system. He is currently the head coach of the Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins. 

Also Friday night, the Bruins made a cheque presentation to the Estevan KidSport Committee. SaskEnergy donates $20 to KidSport for every goal the Bruins score at home during the 2023-24 season.
