The Carlyle PureChem Cougars had to reschedule their Friday, Dec. 16, game versus the Bienfait Coalers to a later date as the Coalers were unable to attend.

The next day, however, the Cougars headed out to Midale where they battled on the ice. Rather evenly matched the Midale Mustangs would earn the win over the Cougars.

It was the Cougars that took an early lead in the game with Ben Johnstone getting past Midale’s goalie Derek Tendler with a goal assisted by Mark Shaw and Phil Doucet.

Midale answered back in the first period with two goals: Brad Tomiski assisted by Dustin Graham and by Steven Lindenbach assisted by Tomiski and Tyler Hioum.

Seven minutes into the second, Midale’s Lindenbach got his second of the night assisted by Graham. Up 3-1, the Cougars rallied and pushed forward earning a goal with 3:05 left in the second period closing the gap to 3-2. The goal came from Cooper Fox assisted by Mark Shaw.

Moving into the third both teams moved the puck and worked hard to capitalize on their efforts, which paid off for the Cougars with 4:10 left in the game. All tied up, the Cougars were unable to stop the Mustangs who scored their fourth and final goal with 3:45 left in the game. Midale’s Adam Ziegler found the back of the net. He was assisted by Tomiski and Hioum.
