Graham DeLaet soared closer to securing a place in the top 100 money leaders in the PGA, after tying for sixth place at the Frys.com Open. The former Weyburn resident earned $146,071 for his position, and is now ranked at 102nd as a money leader with total earnings of $895,961 in the Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour.
In round one of the Frys.com open, DeLaet shot six birdies, nine pars and three bogeys for a total score of 68, three-under-par. He had an equally successful second round score-wise, this time taking four birdies, 13 pars and one bogey for the 68.
With a total score of six-under-par for two rounds, DeLaet had an easy berth for the cut set at even par. Then for round three DeLaet shot an even 71, by having two birdies, two bogeys and 10 pars for the day.
DeLaet's last round was his best performance at the event. He fired six birdies, 10 pars and two bogeys for a 67, four-under-par. His total for the tournament was 10-under-par, and Graham was five shots behind the leader.
So far in the fall series of the PGA Tour, DeLaet has successfully made every cut. Especially after making two top-10s Graham has positioned himself with more security of keeping his PGA card for next season. The top 125 money leaders will keep their cards for the PGA tour.
DeLaet's next tournament will be at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children open at Las Vegas, Nevada from Oct. 21 to 24.
Once DeLaet has completed his fall series, and his tournament schedule in the PGA is set for 2011, a date will be arranged for the Ulterra Graham DeLaet Charity Tournament in Weyburn to benefit the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation.
