CP Wings start season with two wins

The Pee Wee "A" Crescent Point Energy Wings started their season off this past weekend with two wins. Saturday's game was against Regina Avalanche at the Sports Arena.

The Pee Wee "A" Crescent Point Energy Wings started their season off this past weekend with two wins.

Saturday's game was against Regina Avalanche at the Sports Arena. The Wings came out strong in the first three minutes of play with a goal from Miles Lund with Dryden Hoffart assisting. Cole Rheaume scored two quick goals in the first with Ryan Gaab giving assists on both, giving Weyburn a 3-0 lead.

Into the second period, Regina scored the only goal for that period on a power play. The third period saw a few more goals. Regina scored early in the third making it 3-2. Tyrell Mabee, Paul Dionne and Jake Roettger all scored in this period. Regina scored once more making it a 6-3 game.

On Sunday, the Wings played host to the Lumsden Lions. It was an action packed game for the Wings.

The Lions scored within the first minute of play. Paul Dionne scored the only goal for the Wings in the first period of the game. Lumsden came back and scored a shorthanded goal late in the first.

Heading into the second period, again on a power play, the Lions scored with another quick goal to follow. The Wings were down 4-1 in the middle of second period. Miles Lund got an assist from Dylan Thackeray and scored. Less than a minute later, Miles scored again with Rhett Nikolejsin assisting.

Down by only one point, Cole Rheaume scores with Paul Dionne assisting. The CP Wings head into the third period tied at 4-4.

The Wings worked hard at keeping the puck out of their zone, and it paid off. Ben Hiltz took the puck up and scored unassisted. Less than three minutes later, Ben Hiltz, with an assist from Jake Roettger, scored again, making it a 6-4 game.
