Cougars host tough home games; prep for upcoming away games

Cougars Comeback Season

                  The Carlyle PureChem Cougars two tough games this past weekend against the two of the top three leading teams in the league as of Monday, Dec. 4: Redvers Rockets and the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings.

                  The game against Redvers on Friday, Dec. 1, saw the visiting team win 10-2. Redvers was alive in the first period scoring four goals: Cory Jones, Brady Gaudet, Drew Hoff, and Craig Gaudet found the net with help from teammates. The Cougars answered with a single goal in the first by Joel Mack assisted by Clayton Geiger and Cooper Fox.

                  In the second Redvers scored three goals with Brady Fidierchuk, Jarvis Ducharme, and Cory Jones scoring goals. The Cougars were unable to find the net in the second.

                  Redvers finished strong with another three goals in the third: Dakota Rose, Cory Jones with a hat trick, and Jordon Miller with the last goal for the Rockets. The Cougars never gave up, however, and Ben Johnstone scored a goal with 34 seconds left in the final period off an assist from Branden Lequyer.

                  The next night the PureChem Cougars took on the Wheat Kings with Yellow Grass earning an 8-1 win over the home team.

                  The first period saw Dylan Frey with the Wheat Kings earn two goals, while the Cougars were unable to answer back.

                  The second period saw the Cougars come out with a goal by Kelly Currie and assists by Cooper Fox and Mark Shaw; but, the Wheat Kings went on a run with Devin Cobbold scoring two, Corey Koski scoring one, and Dylan Frey adding a goal to earn a hat trick.

                  Wheat Kings led heading into the third at 6-1. Yellow Grass’ Corey Koski then found the net two more times in the third to earn the second hat trick of the night.
