The Carnduff Red Devils have the lead atop the Big Six Hockey League as the senior hockey circuit enters its final weekend of the regular season.

But the Red Devils have also played all 16 of their regular season games.

Carnduff (13-2-1) closed out the regular season by defeating the Carlyle Cougars 7-4 on Friday and doubling up the Bienfait Coalers 6-3 the following night.

They sit four points clear of the second place Redvers Rockets (11-1-1), but the Rockets have three games to play. Redvers’ lone regulation loss of the season came last Tuesday in a 5-3 defeat against Carnduff.

There is also a battle for third place between the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings (10-4-1), who have 21 points, and the Moosomin Rangers (10-4), who had 20. Moosomin is slated to visit Carlyle on Tuesday night.

Moosomin defeated Yellow Grass 7-3 on Friday night in Moosomin. Yellow Grass recovered to knock off the Wawota Flyers 10-6 on Saturday.

There is also a battle for fifth between the Cougars (6-7-1, 13 points, two games remaining), the Oxbow Huskies (6-7-1, 13 points, two games remaining) and the Coalers (5-8-1, 11 poitns, two games remaining).

Oxbow beat Bienfait 6-3 on Friday and Wawota Flyers 8-2 on Sunday.

The Coalers are slated to visit the Huskies Tuesday in a pivotal matchup.

And there remains a battle for the eighth and final playoff berth between the Midale Mustangs (2-11-1, five points, two games remaining) and the Wawota Flyers (1-13, two points, two games remaining).

There are a handful of games remaining. Wawota is to face Redvers on Feb. 9. Several games are set for Feb. 11: Oxbow at Yellow Grass, Moosomin at Bienfait, Midale at Redvers and Carlyle at Wawota. Those games will start at 8 p.m.

The final game of the regular season is Redvers at Midale on Feb. 13 at 5 p.m.

Two Big Six teams saw their quest for a provincial title come to an end on the weekend. Wynyard doubled up Moosomin 5-4 on Feb. 5 in the third and deciding game of their best-of-three Senior C south quarter-final series.

And Davidson edged Redvers 2-1 to win the best-of-three series in two straight.

That leaves just Carnduff remaining in provincials. The Red Devils will face Assiniboia in a best-of-three Senior C south semifinal. Game 1 will be Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., and Game 2 is the following day in Assiniboia. Game 3, if necessary, would be Feb. 20 in Carnduff at 4 p.m.
