聽 聽 聽 聽 聽The Carlyle Novice Cougars (Chris) were back in action on the weekend of Jan. 18 and 19 when they played at home against Carlyle (Scott) and White Bear. They won both games with scores of 11-6 and 32-1 taking their record to 5-0.
Game 1: Sat, Jan. 18 vs Carlyle (Scott)
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In an all Carlyle match-up for Carlyle Minor Hockey Day, the boys laced up their skates and had a spirited bout against some school and classmates.
The game started as up-tempo as one of team manager Danielle Steeles pump up play lists. 聽The game went back and forth with both teams getting some great looks and real good scoring chances. 鈥淏rick wall鈥� Brown, like games before, was solid in the crease and some great defines help the opposition to only 6 goals.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Breaking up rush after rush was Xander 鈥淭he Postman鈥� Brown. In case you鈥檙e wondering he鈥檚 called 鈥淭he Postman鈥� because no matter what the situation he always delivers.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Also playing great was Keenan 鈥淪harknado鈥� Winkler. He played like a swirling dervish of hungry Great Whites, and there was blood in the water. Odds were if you saw the puck then 鈥淪harknado鈥� was either right there or in hot pursuit.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 When the final horn sounded and the handshakes were done both teams could hold their heads high with Cougars (Chris) edging out Cougars (Scott) 11-6.
Game 2: Sunday, Jan. 19) vs Whitebear
聽聽 The boys came out 鈥済uns a blazin鈥� against White Bear, fuelled with Kit Kats, candy bags , and pumped up with more of Danielle 鈥淭he DJ鈥� Steele鈥檚 legendary play lists, the boys cruised to a convincing 32-1 win.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A few notable lineup changes saw Nash 鈥淭he Flash鈥� Faber strap on the pads and show that the team is not just a one trick pony when it comes to goaltenders. Nik 鈥淭he Brickwall鈥� Brown left the crease for this game and got offensive as he was scoring goals today instead of stopping them as he gave his all as a forward.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Owen 鈥淭op Cheese鈥� Light led the charge, like Micheal Jordan did when he joined the Toon Squad, (Yup that鈥檚 a Space Jam reference) scoring in bunches and setting up many of his teammates on countless occasions.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The gents put on a clinic with instructors such as 鈥淪harknado鈥�, 鈥淐oast to Coast鈥�, 鈥淗ands and Hair鈥�, 鈥淭he Postman鈥�, 鈥淭he Rifle鈥�, and 鈥淐rash the Crease鈥� all showing and doing what they do best.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Another great weekend of hockey that ended in two more victories, some powerplay goals, some great tending between the pipes and a goal differential of +36.聽 Great job boys and let鈥檚 see you all carry it into the Virden tournament this upcoming weekend.
