The Carlyle Cardinals have advanced to the next round in the Saskota Baseball League’s playoffs.
The Cardinals, who are the second-seeded team in the postseason, defeated the No. 7 Kipling Royals 9-2 on Thursday night in Kipling to sweep the best-of-three quarter-final series in two straight.
Carlyle won 3-1 in Game 1 Wednesday.
Also advancing to the next round are the Oxbow Chiefs. They knocked off the Kenosee Cubs 17-2 in Game 2 of their matchup Thursday to sweep that best of three 2-0. Oxbow won Game 1 7-3 on Tuesday.
The two other series could be decided tonight. The Carnduff Astros and the Redvers A’s will resume Game 2 of their series in Redvers. It was called Thursday night due to darkness with the game tied at 1-1 in the ninth inning.
It is expected to resume at 6:30 p.m.
Carnduff won Game 1 9-6 Tuesday night.
The Estevan Tap House Wolves will play the Estevan-based Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Fireballs Friday night in Estevan at 6 p.m. The Wolves lead that series 1-0 after taking Game 1 12-2.
The Fireballs qualified for the quarter-finals with a 7-5 win over the Arcola Threshers Monday in a play-in game.Â
