Build The Deck golf tourney raises money for the project

The Carlyle Golf Course had a good start to the season back in April with great summer-like weather.

The Carlyle Golf Course had a good start to the season back in April with great summer-like weather.

The club also had a great first tournament of the year on May 23 as a farewell to Gord and Christy Jarvis, as well as raising enough money for the Help Build The Deck Fundraiser.

The Carlyle Golf Club board organized the 18-hole, two-person best ball tournament with 73 golfers taking part.

It was a rainy and chilly day but everyone showed up to golf and have fun and show their support.

"The score didn't matter...it was just a fun tournament,鈥 said board member Charity Brown.

"Hats off to the committee," says Terri Field, manager of the Carlyle Golf Club.

There were raffle prizes, a prize at every hole and also some random prizes on the fairway.

Smokies, hamburgers and hotdogs were served at the gazebo.

"It was so unbelievable...I was overwhelmed by the community support that we received,鈥 comments Field. "The donations were wonderful."

"Everyone would like to see a deck so this tournament makes it all possible," explains Field, who added, "that deck is going to get used.鈥

The new deck should last many, many years to come. The club wishes to give recognition to everyone for donations.
