The Big Six Hockey had their meeting on Sunday and are happy to announce that the league will be a go this year, with games starting Nov. 6.

A few changes had to be made for this to be possible, such as the nine teams had to be split into two mini leagues. There will be five teams in the east: the Carlyle Cougars, Redvers Rockets, Wawota Flyers, Kipling Royals and Carnduff Red Devils.

Four teams are in the west: the Arcola-Kisbey Combines, Yellow Grass Wheat Kings, Midale Mustangs and Bienfait Coalers.

The teams on the east will play eight games by Christmas and the teams on the west will play nine games by Christmas, at which time the league is taking a two-week break.

There are 150 fans allowed per game with social distancing guidelines being followed, such as all fans having to wear masks. No fans are allowed to enter the rink until 15 minutes before game time and they must clear out within 15 minutes after the game has ended.

Players also have to wear masks when they enter and exit the rinks, coaches and timekeepers have to wear masks at all times and only three coaches are allowed on the bench.

鈥淚t's a start, at least we get to play hockey,鈥 Rae Wright, president of the Big Six Hockey League states. Wright also says that they will all be meeting again in December to see if things have changed.
