On Dec.8th the Bantam Cougars played host to the Carnduff Red Devils. Carlyle came out strong in the first period when Evan Anderson put the puck on Brett Turgeon's stick to score one minute into the game. Carnduff answered back towards the end of the period but Carlyle added two more quick ones from Turgeon assisted by Kirkland Chalus and Walker Hengen and Marc Shaw, unassisted. Second period, Jodi Black shut down the Carnduff team, not letting anything past her while teammates Turgeon and Big Eagle added two more points to the board giving Carlyle a 5-1 lead. Third period , Carnduff slipped one into the Carlyle net but the Cougars came back with goals from Riley Smith assisted by Drake Smith and Brayden Starr, Anderson, unassisted and Shaw, unassisted. Nine minutes are remaining in the game when AP goalie, Kruz Wilson goes into the Cougar net. Kruz stopped all but one shot from the Red Devils and Carlyle added their last point of the game from Starr assisted by Turgeon and Hengen. Final score 9-3 Carlyle.Dec.14 the team travelled back to Carnduff with a short bench of nine skaters. This game seemed to be more evenly matched with the score tied at 3 after the first. Part way through the second period, the Cougars lost two more players which shortened the bench to seven and Carnduff took the lead by one. Carlyle did not let the situation get the better of them in the third period. They played together as a team, skated hard and never gave up. Jodi Black kept every shot in front of her while her teammates put 4 goals in the Carnduff net for a final score of 7-4. The last two games before the Christmas break were played on Dec.18 vs. Estevan, which resulted in another Cougar victory and on Dec.19 vs. Lampman. The score of this game ended up 4-2 in favor of Lampman. Points for Carlyle came from Marc Shaw assisted by Drake Smith and Evan Anderson assisted by Brayden Starr and Walker Hengen.
