Assiniboia Senior Rebels start strong during opening weekend

The Senior Rebels will be back at the Â鶹ÊÓƵland Co-op Centre for a game against the Gravelbourg Hornets on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Assiniboia Senior Rebels had a strong opening to start off the Notekeu Hockey League, by winning two home games.

ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Senior Rebels had a strong opening to start off the Notekeu Hockey League, by winning two home games.

The Senior Rebels won 9-2 over the Hodgeville Huskies during their home opener on Nov. 18.

In the first period, Riley Malone opened scoring for the Rebels, assisted by Zack Evans. Mitch Holick followed with the second goal of the night, assisted by Braydon Delorme and Bryden Silzer.

Jared Karst scored next, assisted by Bryce Hall and Silzer. Holick added another goal into the net, assisted by Mitch Boucher and Delorme. Hodgeville scored once in the period.

During the second period, Hodgeville scored their second of the night. The Rebels answered back, with Lane Cayer scoring off an assist by Brett Leslie. Daxin Peterson scored next, assisted by Hall.

Evans scored a power play goal with three seconds left in the period, assisted by Holick. Then in the third period, Derek Lessmeister scored, assisted by Colton Lethrbidge and Karst. Evans scored a powerplay goal, assisted by Delorme and Holick.

Spencer Bushell was in net for the Senior Rebels.

The Senior Rebels then claimed a 12-4 win over the Avonlea Arrows during a home game held at the Â鶹ÊÓƵland Co-op Centre on Nov. 19.

In the first period, goals were scored by Malone, Lessmeister, Holick, Hall, and Holick during a power play goal. Both of the Arrows goals were in the second period.

Goals by the Rebels in the second and third were by Evans, Holick (with two), Delorme, Scott Anderson, Daxin Peterson, Cayer, Kyle Duncan and Dion Antisin. 

The Senior Rebels will be back at the Â鶹ÊÓƵland Co-op Centre for a game against the Gravelbourg Hornets on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
