Cody Fitzpatrick is the son of Tyler and Amanda Fitzpatrick of Glen Ewen, SK. Cody, who is 16 years of age and in grade 10, is grabbing the bull by the horns.
While some youths would choose gaming or hockey, at the age of nine, Cody chose rodeo riding.
From October 16 to 19 he competed in the Canadian Cowboy Association rodeo finals in Swift Current. He is currently in first place in the Novice Bull Riding event, which is for competitors under eighteen.
Next up after this event he will be riding in the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboy Association finals in Brandon, October 23 to 25. He will compete in the sixteen and under steer riding. Cody has qualified for the fourth time for this event and won it in 2018.
He has also qualified for the International Mini Bull Rider Association World Finals in Las Vegas during the first week of December. While there, he will also compete in the Global Cup. He was invited to be a member of Team Canada and will ride in the Super Senior Steer event, which is for fifteen and sixteen-year-olds. The Global Cup is a free-standing competition that is separate from the world finals. The competition includes two U.S. teams and teams from Australia and Europe.
Cody has competed at the Calgary Stampede and has a busy schedule ahead of him. He will be looking to add to his growing collection of belt buckles.Â
