Community rinks are places that foster youth's development. Whether they're playing hockey or figure skating, kids can spend hours at the rink enjoying themselves and learning a vast array of skills.
Thus, a Carlyle Fun Tournament was held as a fundraiser for the Carlyle Sports Arena. Held on Thursday, April 3, to Saturday, April 5, it became a fun way for both adults and youth to enjoy a final hockey experience.
The event was able to garner the Carlyle Sports Arena approximately $2,000 according to Troy Turner, one of the organizers.
The youth division included kids five-years-old to 12-years-old, while the adult division included youth 13-years-old and up. Within this the tournament was open to kids, mothers, fathers, and grandparents. The only need was for a coach to help draft a team, make lineups, and help on the bench.
There were a total of four youth teams and four adult teams. All adult teams had 12 players with a coach and the youth teams consisted of approximately seven players each making a total of 75 hockey enthusiasts playing in the tournament.
Turner, said the event was successful. Everyone enjoyed themselves with an entertaining final wind up to the hockey season.
